The hotel was originally a mansion built in 1912. This was home of Mr. Grimaldo Del Solar (of whom the street’s name is taken). After that, also a Vice-president of Chile lived there during his stay in Peru. In 1980 it was bought by its current owners and after 2 years of exhausting restoration and maintenance work, La Castellana Hotel opened its doors.
